a little bit about me...
Hi there! I’m a Northern Virginia photographer, specializing in family photography, including maternity and newborns, as well as high school seniors. My journey with photography started in 2009 as a hobby so that when my husband and I hopefully had kids, I'd be able to take great pictures of them. Since then, it has grown into one of my biggest passions. I love the art that I am able to create and capture while behind the camera and wish to share that with the families that I work with.
I love a good beach vacation, especially in the off-season, and have a long list of places I can't wait to roadtrip to. I always try find beauty in the mundane and can't get enough of a beautiful sunset. I believe you can never own too many antique blankets and will always snatch one up if it's a great deal (even if I have no where to store them anymore!). Aside from photography, I’m also a wife and a mom of two beautiful girls, in addition to working full time for a professional association in Old Town Alexandria.
a little bit about my style...
There are so, so many photographers to choose from in the Northern Virginia area and I'm honored that you are considering me! That said, I want to make sure I'm the right one for you. I focus on capturing your family's connection authentically, rather than just taking the perfectly posed family portrait. My goal is to keep my photography sessions relaxed and stress free. No need to tell your children to “say cheese!" or "look at Miss Sara" as I find that this tactic often backfires and leads to more resistance from little ones.
I want to see you playing with your kids and snuggling up to your partner. I want you to comfort your little one if they're nervous or upset. Don't worry about presenting something you're not; we're all just trying to do our best, myself included, so I'm not here to judge. My kids aren't perfect little angels and I don't expect yours to be either ;). I want you to walk away from your session knowing that what I captured is so perfectly unique to you and your family. I hope to see you in front of my lens soon!
